What to expect from Catalyst U

Classroom Experience

Classroom Experience

Classroom Experience

Every day students will gather to learn about and apply biblical truths through devotions, leadership training, and group discussion.

Students will receive academic credit through attending Southeastern University online.

Hands On Training

Classroom Experience

Classroom Experience

Each student will be placed in a local church or non-profit organization to serve and gain insight on how local churches and businesses operate and minister to their community.

This hands-on experience counts as credit towards their degree.

One on One Mentoring

Classroom Experience

One on One Mentoring

Every Catalyst U student will have one on one training and discipleship. Ministry mentors will come alongside each student to help them pursue the area of ministry they are passionate about.

What do students experience in each year of Catalyst U?

Year 1

Year 1

Year 1

The first year of Catalyst U students will begin building their foundation of leadership by observing and learning. In addition to daily spiritual development and community time, students will:

  • Begin their practicum and get exposure to different areas of ministry within a church or non-profit ministry
  • Begin their leadership training with Student Leadership University curriculum and attend SLU 101
  • Attend conferences such as Passion and SEU Conference
  • Complete their first year of courses with Southeastern University

The goal: that each ministry student would identify the specific area of ministry or non-profit work to which they feel called.

Year 2

Year 1

Year 1

The second year, students will be more hands-on in their approach to ministry and leadership. Once the student has decided which area of ministry within a church or with a non-profit organization that they feel called they will:

  • Be given a ministry mentor, who is a professional in their specific field
  • Begin to lead in a higher capacity and be given more responsibility
  • Continue to meet for spiritual development & community, as well as attend mission trips and conferences

The goal: that each ministry student would begin to experience what it is like to live out their calling in the day to day.

Year 3

Year 3

Year 3

The third year, students will begin to practice leadership in their approach to ministry both through their practicum (in a church or non-profit) and by becoming student leaders within Catalyst U. In addition to daily spiritual development and community time, students will:

  • Continue their practicum within a church or non-profit
  • Stay with their ministry mentor and take further steps to lead in that area of ministry
  • Become leaders in the church and begin to lead underclassmen students in the program
  • Continue to attend mission trips and conferences

The goal: that students would begin to hone their leadership and ministry gifts in practice and amongst their peers.

Year 4

Year 3

Year 3

The fourth year, the Catalyst U site director will work closely with senior students to develop their leadership skills while identifying partnering ministries to network with the student. In addition to daily spiritual development and community time, students will:

  • Continue their practicum within a church or non-profit
  • Stay with their ministry mentor and continue to lead other students in the program
  • Continue to attend mission trips and conferences
  • Gain higher responsibility and opportunity while serving and leading in a church or non-profit

The goal: that every student would be able to independently lead a ministry with minimal supervision by their mentor and would be set up to find employment within their area of ministry.
