Southeastern University at Catalyst Christian Learning Center
Catalyst U is a biblically-based higher education school dedicated to equipping the world with leaders of integrity and competence who will carry out the Great Commission. Catalyst U takes a unique approach to higher education by giving both the opportunity for in class discussions and hands-on training.
Every day students will gather to learn and discuss biblical truths. Students will receive academic credit through Southeastern University.
Each student will be placed in a local church or non-profit organization to serve and gain insight on how local churches and businesses operate and minister to the community. They will receive hands on experience while simultaneously earning a degree.
It is our goal to see every student have one on one training and discipleship. Mentors will come alongside each student to help them pursue the area of ministry they are passionate about.
Freshmen year, the student will be working with the site director (acting as mentor) and will begin their practicum in several areas of ministry within a church or with a non-profit organization. They will get exposure to all areas of ministry within a church or get their practicum credits at a non-profit. The hope is that the ministry student will identify the specific area of ministry that they feel called or we find the right fit for the non-profit student. The student will begin their leadership training with Student Leadership University curriculum and will attend SLU 101. They will be required to stay in good standings with their grades. Their first year will be a sidelines approach to leadership, observing and learning until they get a chance to lead in their area of calling.
Sophomore year, the student will decide which area of ministry within a church or with a non-profit organization that they feel called. They will be given a ministry mentor, who is a professional in that specific field, within a church or non-profit. The student will start to lead in a higher capacity. They will be required to stay in good standing with their grades. The second year will be a more hands on approach to ministry while getting their practicum credits from a church or non-profit and learning from student leaders.
Junior year, the student will continue their practicum within a church or non-profit. They will stay with their ministry mentor and begin to lead in that area of ministry. They will become leaders in the church and will begin to lead underclassmen students in the program. They will be required to stay in good standing with their grades. The third year will be a leadership approach to ministry while getting their practicum credits from a church or non-profit and becoming student leaders.
Senior year, the student will continue their practium within a church or non-profit. They will stay with their ministry mentor and become Catalyst U student leaders. They will continue to lead other students in the program. They will be required to stay in good standing with their grades. The forth year will be a leadership approach to ministry. The student will get more responsibility and opportunity while serving and leading in a church or non-profit. The site director will work closely with these students to develop their leadership skills while identifying partnering ministries to network with the student. Our hope is that every student that graduates our program will have the opportunity to find employment with a partnering ministry.
